Default Got the Wiper Arm Nut and Trunk Release letters

Is there any way to just get the parts? Seems like it would not be that hard to install and I always seem to end up with scuff, scratch missing parts or busted tabs when others work on my cars. Plus the dealership is about 40 minutes one way.

I would say let the dealership do it then ... 40 minutes one way is worth it imo if you're worried about losing parts, scuffings, and what not. I had them do those 2 recalls along with the cam gear recall. one day work at most or depends how busy they are. you get the free "swirl-making" car wash and possibly a full gas tank. I know they did it for me possibly cause they had to test the car out after the cam gear I don't know. so if you haven't done your cam gear recall yet, i'd let them do all that. but if you're wanting to do it yourself, it's just the nut on the wiper arms and the trunk release you can purchase on sewell. you can call and get the parts from the service department and I believe it's the trunk release lever from what the SA told me. good luck on your decision.

You have to take it in so that the recall is performed. I do not think they will allow you to just have the parts. Recalls are remedies that need to be done formally. It resolves an issue and keeps them form being sued in case of a failure. Giving you parts does not mean you sign a waiver. JM2C.

As these are not as critical, you may just not do them if you are not seeing the symptoms of the failure.

When I took mine in for the cam gear recall these 2 were also done. It is all about trusting your dealer. Moreover you need to hold them accountable in case they damage your car.

You get a tank full of gas with those, let them do it. and what mandyfig said is absolutely correct . They need to perform those.

Low chance of something going wrong with the wiper nut recall and trunk release literally just unbolt the wiper nut/replace, then open your trunk and replace the inner handle with a glow in the dark one. 30 minutes and not much room for error

Ask if the dealer has pickup and delivery service. Mine comes and picks up my car, leaves a loaner, then does the opposite when the repair is done. They did it with the wiper recall (it was done separate from the trunk recall because they didn't initially have the parts). Picked up my car at 8:30 am, and were back before noon completed.

I took it to the dealer. Was in and out in about 30 mins. I would just bring it to them. Some say you get free gas but my dealer never gave me any.

Does the dealer still needs to duplicate the rattle? Do they still do it is the car is out of warranty?

It's a warranty, so the dealer doesn't need to duplicate it--either your car is covered by the recall or it's not; it's not a TSB. I'm not sure if there's a milage limit--I don't have the notice anymore.

My nearest dealership is about 1 hour away also. I had no issues when they fixed the recalls. They even filled my gas tank up & gave me a free rental for a day.
