Default Anybody experienced this?

When I back up and cut the wheel all the way it feels almost like something is catching around the wheel area. You can feel it and hear it. When I put it in drive and cut the wheel all the way it does it a little too. I brought it somewhere and they said it does it because these cars have such a tight turn radius. I looked while my wife backed up and the wheels aren't rubbing against the fender well. The car has stock rims and suspension.

My IS250 does this as well. I too thought maybe it was the tire rubbing in the wheel well, but could it have something to do with the AWD?

It's when I'm backing out of driveway onto a street, and you're right, when I cut the wheel all the way.

Anyone have an explanation?

My awd does this because its a full time AWD system. Ive felt RWD do this with welded diffs but on OEM differential

My 08 RWD IS250 does this. I posted about it last week. I checked the fender liner and underneath the wheel well, doesn't look like anything is rubbing. There are no marks on the tires to suggest abnormal rub/wear.

It's driving me a little crazy trying to figure out what's going on with this. Hope it's not a bent suspension item. I'm still in the process of observation and analyzing. Please let me know if you come up with anything.

My AWD make a noise when I am backing up too. It almost sounded like the brakes are dragging.

Yeah thats kind of what mine is like. The guy at this shop said it was because of the tight turning radius these cars have but who knows. It definetly scared the crap out of me at first.

That sounds like some b.s. he told there. I know for a fact my car should not be doing this. Proof of the matter is, my buddy's wife has an 07 IS250, and I've tested the issue by test driving her car on brand new tires. I backed up, I went forward, wheels completely turned both directions, even went around the block. Her IS does NOT do this, she has factory spec tires, just like I do. I know for sure our cars should not have this problem. Another person, whose car I did not drive personally, but did ride with her as she turned and showed me, it was a 2011 IS250 F-Sport << meaning it's slightly lower than my car. Even her car did not do this.

So to blame the turning radius on the vehicle as a the problem seems like a cop-out because he couldn't figure out the problem. Because if that were true, it would mean a majority of the IS250s out there would have this problem. So far I've only seen a few people complain about it. I'm suspecting a suspension issue on my car, because I went out and found no rubbing, and tires look fine. There are no signs which indicates abrasion against any body panels under the wheel-well.

Will continue the search for an answer.
