Default Swapping Highbeams Halogen with LED; Cover?

2006 Lexus IS250, RWD

I detest the yellow hue of the DRL, and I don't often use the highbeams, so I looked into LED replacements.

I found this, 9005 LED bulbs with decoder.

While it seems easy enough, based on the instructions, what do I do with the cover:

I did some searching and found other threads showing slim decoders:

Linking to the same item that I have found. However, on the merchant website, the decoders look like:

The decoder definitely won't fit in there... is it okay to just leave that open? I assume no, as it will now be open to the elements... Or can the cover be closed with the wires sticking out of it?

I'm thinking about picking these up, too. I've read that they don't fit but I also remember someone saying that there is a way to get it to fit in the housing.

It was also suggested to remove the black housing of the decoder and tape/heatshrink it and it'll fit.

The big decoders from iJDM will not fit inside the covers. They also quit sending out the slim ones due to "lack of demand".

Members like me just leave the covers off. If you put in the bulb and turn it there isn't much room for anything to get in there including water. Others are more cautious and decide to open up the decoders and wrap the internals with some sort of heat resistence tape or whatever and just put those inside the housing and cover them up. I've had my covers off for about a month and havn't had any issues with condensation and it's been raining alot here in Texas and very cold.

Just turn the DRL's off... The kit is cheaper than the LED setup
