Default How to use paddle shifters?

Hello,

Let's say I am at 50MPH, 6th gear. When I start braking, do I need to shift down while braking or do I just shift all the way to 1st gear when I hit 0 mph?

I usually just let's the rpms determine if I should up shift or down shift depending on how low or high they are. I like up shifting and down shifting using the auto stick better!

The paddle shifter are just gear limiters in the ISx50, however in the ISF they are actually shifters. I never use them because they are pointless.

You can leave it where they are at and let the engine shift down on it's own or you can aid in braking (save your brakes) by shifting down yourself. Just avoid downshifting into "gear" one manually. That puts strain on the transmission.

It does exactly what it sounds like it does. It just limits the amount of gears your car can use.

People use the paddle shift? I can't do it. I don't care how much you try and convince me it is just like manual I will never agree. I don't care if it is a GTR.....better have a third pedal lol

^^Agreed. Let the automatic determine what gear it needs to be in. If you want to choose your own gears, drive a manual.

Pedal shifters on this car it's a marketing BS from Lexus to make BMW look bad by charging extra while they are offering standard. In reality are useless as they are gear limiters.

Might be a stupid question but if the paddle shifters are only gear limiters, does pushing up and down on the actual shifter when in S mode actually shift the car?

No it doesn't. Same effect whether you use the shifter or paddles.
