Though not a fast straight-line car by any means, a budget of $25k-$30k can get you a brand new FT86 (Scion FR-S / Subaru BRZ).

Not sure if you mentioned anything about having kids or if backseat space was a requirement but this could be a fun car for you and your wife to enjoy. I've read on the ft86club forums that owners are doing just fine in the winter time with their Blizzak snow tires. Just throwing another potential option for you.

EDIT: I just read that you'll only have 1 or 2 people in the car for 99% of the time and will occasionally use the backseats for your dogs. If your dogs are small, you can cram them in the backseats!

Audi S4...
Avoiding this for the maintenance headaches.... ideally whatever I buy will have a NA engine, turbos are just another thing to break.

.... last night drove a g37xS, CTS-V (and non V), Tesla. My god was the Tesla awesome, seriously everything about it, awesome. Waiting to hear from our HOA president about running conduit to our garage spaces and how that electricity would be billed.... I didn't want to finance much of a car, but strongly considering it now.

.... the collision center called yesterday and are at 14.5k in damages but not a total loss yet, they said they had a bit more to check into, so we'll see what ends up happening there.

Straight line is all I can really appreciate, the occasional on-ramp thundergun is about all I'm good for. Both of those cars look great but even after the IS350 feel underpowered.

Getting rid of the the RSX would be nice, our condo building gives us two indoor spots, we're paying for a 3rd at the moment, but it would be nice to unload that.... it would probably cover the cost to go to the ISF.

... my biggest concern is how much money will brakes and tires eat up over the next few years. Affording them isn't a problem, but I hate spending money knowing that I could be spending less.
wow really? if i would of known that the is350 rwd is ok in snow with good tires i would of went with that. no offense to any other 250 drivers. but this is my 2nd 250 and i have ran into so many issues. so disappointed right now. wishes i can turn back time

I went with a IS250 awd for my first IS, and thought it was okay with All-season tires, but the 350 (rwd) with blizzaks performs better.... and come summer is WAAAAY more fun to drive.

Did anyone recommend the 2015 Mustang GT? It looks much more Euro aesthetically, and will probably have around 450 HP for your straight line needs...if you can push to about $35k.

Since you have good records with Lexus. Why don't you stay with Lexus? You know the car looks good, maintenance is not too crazy, so damn reliable, enough power, and handle like a champ.

30k budget + some loan to get the 3rd generation IS 350 F Sport?? That car rocks with real pedal shifter and 8 speed and damn nice exterior and interior.

Or switching out to different Lexus series may be the GS350 used? You can definitely find it under 30k budget.

Nobody's heart is breaking sorry. I sit in a G37 almost every other day and if you're OCD like me, the bad fit quality overall will wreak havoc!

Completely misaligned trim from dash to door.

Trim that doesn't even fit correctly...

Uneven gaps in the console panels

These are just a few pics of some areas, there are a lot more QC issues throughout the car. My IS350 is built much better with none of these fit issues.

The only problem area regarding fit in the cabin (in the 250 at least) is the center console. There is a very noticeable gap between the trim above the vents and the dashboard.

In my opinion, again in my opinion, I respectively disagree that Infinity G has better interior than Lexus IS. Lexus IS has one of the best interior and exterior, together with its quality and reliability being the the main reasons, I chose Lexus over BMW, Infinity, Benz, and Audi. I love it so much that I bought two IS and running them everyday now: 250 and 350 .

A few cars that I would consider for future upgrades would be Nissan GTR or Tesla.

Hmm, don't seem to have that problem in my 2011 IS350. In fact I think the fit/finish quality is superb, very top notch and I'm very **** about stuff like this.

It may be due to the ever fluctuating climate that is Canada, lol. They may have also improved the fit over the years (mine is an 08 with the dash rattle, again probably due to the frequent climate changes).

I second the Tesla. Car is insane. They're getting ready to drop a 30k car.
