Default WTF? Invidia Midpipe Woes......IS350

After researching for what seemed like 8+ hours and watching/listening to multiple videos - I finally bit the bullet and purchased the Invidia Midpipe for a little more sound. I didn't want to go full exhaust, I was just looking for more subtle sound. Everything I read, said that adding the Invidia to the stock system, was the perfect fit for my application - it wasn't overly loud, but was compareable to the stock Infiniti exhaust.
I tried to jack up the car and DIY, but the damn this is just too low (used to working on lifted trucks). The local shop said for $50 they'd have me in/out in 30 minutes - perfect.
Stopped in - slapped it on, and started it up....sounded okay at first. Drove down the road - and between 3000 and 4000 rpm - WTF???
This thing sounds like a riced out 90's Honda hatch with a fart-can that can barely get out of itself's way??
Totally disaointed. I am actually embarassed to get on the gas now.
Will this rasphy tin can sound go away after break in? I saw a video of right after an install, and then 1000 miles later - it did indeed sound different, but I now will not trust any video sounds because it just isn't the same.

I had the exhaust place keep my stock system, and I already called them to swap it back to stock next week. Is there any option out there (Meagan?) that is deeper, more like a intake type sound vs the riced out rasphy tin can sound?

You should of know invidia to do a better search. These mid pipe are raspy there even a video on YouTube with stock exhaust to show it. On that note that why I don't see a need for one.

FWIW - If anyone has any experience with the Magnaflow muflers on the 3.4 and 4.0 V6 Toyotas - I've ran those for the past 14 years. They are a lower-toned sound, not at all "ricey".
I want to get as far away as I can from the tin-can sound.
Thanks!

That really sucks man, I haven't updated my exhaust or midpipe for this very reason.

On a side note, IS there any combo to make our cars sound more like the stock 350z or G37s?? I thought I saw a youtube video once around here...

I watched every video with the stock system as I could. I think there were 3 different individuals with 4 or 5 different videos. For some reason, it's just not the same "in person".

Megan is deeper, that should have been your choice. Sorry to hear. The rasp will stay. That's why I never wanted one. Maybe a Tanabe exhaust alone would have been nice.

I hear you haha. I myself have a fujstubo exhaust very quiet and some what noticeable. But I like it that way. By the way I didn't know if you seem this one. But as he revs you can hear the rasp of the sound.

LoL, you know what, I have been doing the same thing like you watching youtube videos and researching all about Invidia midpipe. I was about to get one and combine it with M2 exhaust. Then I heard that midpipe is illegal in CA because the cats are being removed, and then the it does not fit with the M2 perfectly and you have to weld it this and that so i did not buy it at that point.

Anyways, I really appreciate your post. You help me confirm my decision now. NO NO NO on Invidia midpipe. I hope to get that sound similar to the Infinity car and NOT the fart can raspy sound on Honda Civic. Will Megan Midpipe do it??

The Invidia mid-pipe definitely has a loud rasp to it, so it really is a love it or hate it relationship. In your case, it seems like removing it would be your best bet. I would look into the F-Sport exhaust for a nice tone that matches the car.

I have the Invidia midpipe with F-sport exhaust. It is extremely loud but I love the tone to it. I usually tame it to under 3k RPM while driving in the city. It gets obnoxiously loud when I floor it.

Brociouz setup with F-Sport Exhaust, Intake & Invidia Mid Pipe. One of my favorite vids from a while back. It's not for everybody.
