Default MAF sensor cleaning question

I have 2007 is350, is it necessary to reset ecu after cleaning the MAF sensor? After doing some searches, people always do but didn't say why. I took a look and it looks pretty easy on the is350, just 2 Phillips screws. I kind of don't want to reset ecu if not necessary since I alrdy recent it last week. Also is the crc MAF cleaner Ok to use?

No you don't really need to reset anything. I've always used the CRC with good results

I would reset it; if there was any build-up on the sensor, it will be reading differently once cleaned. You will want the car to re-learn everything using the "new" readings sourced from that sensor.

Yes.

Reset it so the computer can re-learn the settings with your cleaned sensor.

Why did you clean the sensor?

I've seen maybe one car out of thousands that was fixed from cleaning the MAF. Unless there is literally a foreign object stuck on it, I am sure its fine. I supposed cleaning the rotary valve helps too right? pffft

I had both P0172 and P0175 codes, those are "Car is running too rich" trouble codes. I had a crazy fuel consumption, rough idle, rough gear shifts, my car reeked to fuel, had hesitation anytime i started to move from a stop and my car felt sluggish and it didn't wanted to coast (like if i had my foot on the brakes) I diagnosed a dirty MAF, cleaned it, reset the ECU and the car is new again.

The codes erased and have not appeared anymore. I regained my power, no more crazy fuel consumption, smooth gear shifts, no fuel smell, etc.

So you see... Cleaning the MAF can help to fix your car.

That'll do it.

to me cleaning the MAF every now and then is just standard practice. always resetting the ecu isnt just a magic fix when you just skip over the basics. some cars are far more sensitive to a dirty MAF than others. so i guess out of the thousands of cars youve seen, they mustve all been immune to simple routine maintenance of a MAF based car

Nope, that didn't. That was the first thing i did and it was ok for one week and the problem came back. I reset my ECU twice and the same problem came back.

When i cleaned my MAF the problem went away and never came back.

Of all the cars that had a MAF clean. How many of them had aftermarket intakes?
