Default considered totalled??

long time viewer first time poster. Yesterday a tire came flying at me when I was driving on the freeway and I am lucky to be alive. 4 airbags deployed in the front (steering wheel, passenger and both knee airbags). Based on the picture do you guys think this is considered totalled?

not sure if there's frame damage, but I'm pretty sure there is since I was going about 70 and the tire came at me from the opposite direction.

lucky to be alive, and that the tire did not come through my windshield and the front took the the damage.

2009 IS250 with about 67k miles
a KBB estimate is around 20k

Did you wreck after the tire hit you? More than likely it will be totaled due to airbags being deployed.

It'll buff right out.....j/k. If you know how to do the work, it can be repaired but at a high cost in parts. I'm pretty sure it will declared a total loss.

Sorry to hear and see. Glad you're ok. I say it's to talked too. FYI, no frames on these cars. They're unibody.

I wouldn't rely on CL members opinions.....your claim agent will be able to assess it for you. I have seen some barely touched cars be totaled and on the other hand I had a $2k car receive $4k worth of damages fixed. You never know.

Am I the only one that doesn't think it'll be totalled? If the hood was open where I could see more of the "internal" damage, that might change my mind. But using the $20k estimated car value, I don't see there being $15k-worth of damage at the surface.

I'm with you Gville, but what do I know... Subiechik has it right, no one is going to know until the insurance agent makes an assessment.

question is, do you want it to be totaled? you do have low miles, the body damage isnt that bad, it just looks bad. the reason all the bags deployed was where the tire impacted..really need the body shop to take it apart and make sure(which they will do) nothing else is damaged, because most of the agents now days really have no clue and only estimate what they can see. ive seen worse repaired and less totaled like they stated above..
