Has 2IS's resale dropped a lot due to 3IS ?

To answer the OP's question, it seems like the 2IS still holds very high value here in CA. I'm not sure about elsewhere. Everyone wanted high prices for CLEAN low mileage 2IS IS350 when I was shopping, especially the 2011-2013, prices seems to jump a lot. Prices were in the 33-38k range for low mileage 2011-2013 CPO'd 350's.

Went into a dealer in the sf area to test drive the 350 fsport 2014. Ended up playing some numbers including trade in value. I have a is350 f sport 2012 with 37k miles on it. Only gave me 28k for it.
Walked away thinking there's no way my car can be valued that low. I was thinking around 32k...

I see your point (it was 45K-I have the orginal sticker) but this is still very good depreciation compared to other cars in the class. The G37S was also around 45k in 2010 and BMW 330i and MB C300/350s were around that price in 2010 as well but can be had now for a lot less than the IS350.

It's justifiable for BMW , Audi or Jaguar to have very low resale values but it should not be the case with our indestructible and super reliable car's. Anyways I have just dropped in a mail to their Head Office in Abu Dhabi , let's see if they will warn this dealer to quote the right prices in future.

i don't think the dealer is trying to devalue the IS at all. i think their main focus is to make as much profit as possible. it's a business after all. "buy low, sell high" that's the whole point of doing business. they don't care how is it going to affect the IS at all. Actually, i think every dealers do this, not just the Lexus dealers in particular.
In my opinion, you should not sell your car to dealer if you want to have a good price. You will make more money if you sell your car privately.

Is it me or does anyone get the idea that they are confusing Resale with tradein value. Trade-in value from dealers is always going to be substantially lower than sale price

they gotta make their money I guess smh

as soon as you drive off the dealership your car goes down in value immediately, selling it privately is the best bet. selling it to a dealer or for even trade in value is a rip off, tried it and its not worth it, at least negative equity isn't worth it. ..

Suddenly they can buy my car for 14,000$ and sell it for 21,000$ to other customers. Yes obviously they make money but they also devalue the brand and the car a lot in this market due to this. 21,000$ is suddenly a brand new Toyota Camry money.
Yet they sell the new 3IS without Mark Levinson for 57,000$ here so go figure.
I know that there is always a depreciation and I don't mind it but it should be reasonable and justifiable, and as far as most of you have discussed here even after the introduction of the 3IS , the 2IS's still holds good value so there is no reason for my bloody dealership to bring down the market value of the 2IS.

I have something that's pretty funny that is relevant to this topic.
I got this letter directly from my local dealer, can you see what is wrong with this?
The letter isn't even written to me....scammy as hell. These dealers are only out there for the money, they want our cars, there's definite value.
