Default Fsport question

Just wondering if anybody else has run into this. I have a 2010 IS 350 C Fsport and I need to replace the brakes the dealer is quoting me $5200 does anybody know if there's a way I can put regular IS 350 brakes on the car?

I'm wondering why you need new brakes. Are they saying you need new calipers, rotors, pads? That's insane.

Yes this is what they are saying , I have 80,000 miles now. They are saying I need replacing . The service guy said I could only use Fsport brakes. I am very skeptical.....

I think they are saying that you need to replace the rotors as well as the brake pads. The rotors are the ones that are driving the price up because for each rotor, they cost about $700 something each at dealer price which is freaking ridiculous. Being that the drilled rotors cannot be resurfaced, they want to replace the rotors and the brake pads at the same time.

To answer your question, Yes you can switch your brakes to regular IS350 brake calipers, pads, rotors, etc.

I'd just get aftermarket brake rotors and pass or if you want oem go to the Sewell Lexus website and register as a CL user to get a discount.

measure the rotor thickness and see if its in spec. If it is thick enough you dont need to replace. Typical stealership. Who says these rotors are drilled? Did he upgrade to the F Sport BBK?

Forget about their ridiculous $5200 quote and you don't need F Sport brake kit unless you have money to burn. I think what you need is to replace the rotors and pads. There are 2 options:
1. Buy the OEM rotors and pads from Sewell which is also official Lexus dealer. The ones below fit perfectly on your ISC.
Rotors is here http://is.sewellparts.com/accessorie...2010/6244.html
Pads is here http://is.sewellparts.com/accessorie...2010/1894.html

2. You can go with aftermarket rotors (Stop Tech, Powr Stop...) and pads (Hawk, PosiQuiet...) and make sure it fits your car.

I advise going with option 1, OEM has really good brake performance.

So are the IS350 F Sport braked different that the normal IS350 brakes? I am assuming they didn't install the F Sport BBK from the factory. Even if they have to replace the entire IS350 calipers, rotors and pads I can't see how it can add up to $5200 which is more than the F Sport BBK upgrade. Stealership at its worst here.

Car makers make their living off service of their cars. I'd get a second opinion from a local independent mechanic that specializes on your car.

He has the F-Sport build which does come with the FSport BBK... I myself have them and the price on the rotors are ridiculous!!! You can get replacement parts from a StopTech authorized dealer for a portion of the price...

If you pay me $5200, I'll be more than happy to change your brakes for you.

No Lexus also offers the IS' as an FSport build which comes with the accessory FSport BBK and suspension and what not... Different from the current IS FSport factory models
