Default Best/safest way to clean this off my rims

I have 18" OEM liquid graphite 5 spoke rims on my 2012 is 250... I made a trip down to tampa from panama city beach last week and I took my car through a carwash when I got back because of all the bugs on my headlights. My rims had a black film on them I figured it was brake dust but its very rough to the touch and it didnt come off during the car wash... some of the dirt came out but its still black and feels like sand paper when I touch it.

Any advice?

use a basic (not acidic) degreaser like simple green to remove the "black film". following that, use a clay bar with water to remove the imbedded debris. youre wheels will be factory smooth afterwards

You can use a little bit of goo gone which should be safe for the clear coat. Dont worry probably some tar, brake dust and dirt mixed into it.

If it still wont work buy some mr clean eraser sponges those things are a blessing to your wheels. < I like this best but I dont know how tough your problem is.

For stuff like that my go-to product is Turtle Wax Tar/Bug/Sap remover. Clear coat safe.

Yeah that Turtle wax tar/bug/sap remover works wonder for me. Remember to spray it on and wait like 1 min before you start remove it. If the black stuff is still sticky, you might want to repeat the process couple times.

You could also try some wheel cleaner too.

I would recommend a high quality wheel cleaner and tar remover...
