Default 2007 Lexus IS250 AWD- Rebuilt Title

Hi Everyone-

I am in the process of purchasing a 2007 Lexus IS250 with a rebuilt title. This Car currently has 76000 miles on it and seems to be in alright condition. The vehicle was in a front end collusion, what I can't wrap my head around is that the accident seems to be minor but the insurance company declared it a total lost? See the before and after pics below. Any advice/in put would be appreciated on this purchase. Since the repairs are costly on these cars, I don't want to get into something that I can't get out of.

Thanks

Asking price is $10700, I was thinking he give it for 8 to 8500.

Doesn't look bad, but be sure the frame is fine.

I agree with hypervish on the frame. The external looks fine, but you want to make sure what you don't see is structurally untouch by the accident. I'm sure you are aware that frame damage will decrease your safety protection. I know the price can be very tempting, but as a CL member to another, I'd prefer safety over price. That's just IMO.

Thanks, I will definitely take the vehicle to a local body shop and have them inspect it.

To answer your question about why the insurance company declared it a total loss, it depends on what the amount of damage was. What doesn't look so bad on the surface, could have been devastating underneath the car. There could have been unibody damage, suspension/wheel damage, radiator, electronic components, headlights, etc. It all adds up.

Oh also, are those the only before pictures you have of the car? It could have been rear-ended and pushed into the car in front of it. So both front and rear damage.
