trunk release on key fob
#16
Probably because you have to have the key on you in order to use the outside trunk button. Even if the car is unlocked the button won't work unless it detects the key at the rear of the car. Wish there were a way around this. I use the outside button too. I always forget to have the key with me and end up having to use the inside button on the dash. Annoying.

I don't know, but it makes no sense to me. If the doors are unlocked, the trunk should be able to be opened with that trunk button. There's even a kill switch in the glove box to prevent valets from getting in. Hit the kill switch, lock the glove box. Boom, no trunk entry. But if the switch is not on, I don't understand why the fob has to be in your possession.

I can see if you wanted the button to work if the doors were unlocked already, but you have to take some type of action to make the trunk open, with or without the key in your pocket.
