Exclamation Summer tires in rear and all season in front

My 2010 IS250 got that ugly front left tire inner wear issue and i have to replace it.

The dealer will charge $350 each for original BS ER33 so i decided to move to other better solutions.

Now i prefer Continental Extreme contact DWS as I do not track cars and just daily commute between office and home. I just need a safe and comfortable feedback rather than hard corners.

Now the problem is rear tires are still ok and they are original BS ER33 summer tires, is there any big problem to just switch front tires to all season but keep the rear ones as summer tires ?

This will cause you to understeer more, which is safer than oversteering for the inexperienced, but less than ideal for spirited driving. This is better than visa versa in the wet since the front tires will most likely hydroplane before the rears, allowing you to feel it in the wheel early on. Unless your rear tires are really worn down when the rain comes, then that might be an issue.

+1 for darkdream.

It will understeer because the rear has better traction so the front is more likely to break loose first. This will only happen when you push the car hard at or over the limit of the tire traction.

On a daily driving, you should NOT have any problem. Don't track your car with the set up though.

Good choice on DWS, I have it on my IS250 daily driver, it is smooth, quiet, handle good and hopefully last long.

Honestly, the car will run fine but handling will be affected slightly. Best to change all 4 tires to continentals and sell the 2 rear turanzas.

You might feel a little under steer, but after a while you'll get used to it and your driving habits will change accordingly.

No big problems

Yes--but how would it affect emergency handling?

The car already understeers quite a bit even with f-sport sway bars and using the same front the rear tires.

Having the rear sway bar only (don't do front sway bar) will reduce the under-steering significantly.
