PLEASE HELP - Did I get taken by the dealer
Hi all,
I left the NISSAN dealership with a 2012 Lexus IS 350 that they had on the lot. Because the car was at Nissan and not at Lexus, they did not know very much about it. I felt like it was a good deal, but I bought the option to return the car in 3 days if I changed my mind.
Since this is a used car, I can't tell what options or packages it has on it. They did not know what options where on the package either. Please help me out and let me know if I got taken for a ride.
Car: Lexus IS 350
Year: 2012
Miles: 15,800
Cost: $31,000
They didn't know the packages, but on inspection of the car, I have the following:
1) Navigation w/ Rear backup camera
2) I think it's wood grain (it isn't brown like wood) on the door and transmission box
3) The seats have the option for heating and cooling
4) When you open the door "LEXUS" lights up under where the door would be if closed
5) There is a cargo net in the trunk
6) There is a shade thingy I can raise or lift in the back of the car with a switch
7) The headlights have a button to wash them (ridiculous feature if you ask me)
8) The tires are both 18' but the back ones are different width than the front
9) There is NO compass in the rear view mirror and no parking sensors
10) I have paddle shifters on the steering wheel (the car is an automatic)
From what I've listed above, can you help me figure out what packages the car has?
Also, they sold me a warranty for 6yr/100k miles bumper-to-bumper at the dealership and said I can use it at the Lexus dealership. They said the warranty is the same at Ford, Lexus, BMW, etc and you can fix the car anywhere.
Does this seem reasonable? Was $31k a good price for the car or do better deals exist?
Any help you can give will be well received. I have 3 days and I can just pay $500 and take the car back and cancel the sale. I bought faster than normal because finding a low mileage 350 has been hard.

Sounds like a nice car and a good price. You'll be happy with it. About the only thing I'd question is buying the extra warranty. It's not really needed on reliable cars like the IS. These are generally high mark-up items and your car already comes with a B2B factory warranty.

You have the luxury package which is the highest and rarest package there. The wood like surfaces you see is real wood. They changed the color in 2010 I believe from brown to grey. You also have optional headlight washers, another rare option. I think you got a great deal considering the luxury pack is a $3,500 option new. The washers $300. The only things you maybe be missing are the parking sensors, radar cruise control, and mark levinston DVD player. I know since my car has the same options as your except I also have parking sensors. They are small dots in your bumper. I good price for such a high optioned car imo. Good job.

Hes from texas! Thats why. The housing market is pretty low there so you can buy decent property for cheap.
As for the OP, thats a decent deal IMO. Me personally, I would have added the extra 7 grand for the new 2014 model but thats just me. KBB rates this at 29,900 so assuming the dealership needed to make some money your right about there. I would have opted for the 29,900 price tag tho. save about a grand if needed. Hope it was 31k OTD

Taxes was another 8.5%
The warranty was $2400.
So about $36k out the door.
I got $10,000 for my 08 BMW with 110,000 miles on it.
The 2014 is 350 is $46,000+ out here. Lol and houses are $750,000 for 3bed/2ba.
I had to have the warranty after the nightmare my BMW put me through. Even with warranty I spent close to $4000 in repairs in 4 years.
Thank you everyone for the input.
Lastly: my lights move up and down when I turn the car on. Does this mean they are adaptive ( turn with the steering wheel) or simply self-leveling?
