Default Potential IS250 buyer-How common is the carbon buildup?

We are considering purchasing a 2006-2008 IS250, but I am a bit concerned about the carbon build up issue. I see that Lexus has increased the warranty to 9 years/unlimited mileage which is good.
I am inquiring how frequently this problem shows up, and whether it is more of a nuisance, or a problem that makes the car undrivable. Everything else seems to point to this vehicle being reliable. I am getting rid of my 2003 Range Rover, which is probably THE most unreliable car in the world. I own 2 other Toyota products, a 99 Land Cruiser, and a 2006 Prius, both of which have been stellar vehicles.
Any input is appreciated!

Here's some info on other 250 owners. I had my car spitter twice and the check engine lights came on. Turned car off and it went away. Still was able to get the top engine flush done free of charge from the Lexus dealer and it never happened again.

Thank you. I have read several posts about installing a catch can to prevent the carbon buildup. Is the general consensus that the catch can is a good preventative?

I would definitely say so....I'm looking into making a catch can myself when I get the time.

Common on older version like the 2006 but less common on newer one like the 2011, 2012, 2013 models. At least my 2012 is running fine.

Correct if i'm wrong, I heard that driving hard once in a while (rev all the way up) can prevent carbon build up. I do that all the times anyways haha. Lots of people who don't have carbon build up drive their cars hard. This is all speculation.

I had a catch can and I'd day it helps but I don't think there's many people that have had it longer than a year and a half.

Hit or miss I say. I have 250 for my GF and she doesn't drive it hard. Bought it new in 08 and now it just hit 100k. Not one issue with carbon build up. When I did the spark plug at 60k everything looked cleaned. But we only put Shell Vpower for gas.

what is the difference between 2006 and 2011, they use the same GDI, unless the use DS4 2011, we are the same boat, I have a 2011 and I'm starting to worry about the carbon.
I do not know if cold places (canada) the catch can work, but it would be good a discussion about this by the experts here.
