Did AutoZone let you return the "new" reman alternator? I guess you could just hold onto it though cuz it's bound to go out down the road sometime.

Perhaps you can create a NTB (Need to Borrow) thread from those that might have upgraded to an IS-F unit and have an older model steering ecu just sitting around. Worth a shot, and it'll be relatively cheap (shipping costs only perhaps).
The guy at the store said I can return it because they have a lifetime warranty, but like you said, with the car having over 100k miles I don't know how long the old one has left and it might be worth just leaving it in. I may give that NTB thing a try, assuming the ECU is actually the issue. I'm about to go out and look around under the hood again.

Wow is about the only word I have right now to explain the situation. I went out and took the ECU out to inspect it. I even opened it up to look at the circuitry inside. Nothing look wrong with it so I plugged it back up and BAM, no more P/S light and my power steering is back. I mean, what the hell. Why did it have to go and spend all this money on trying to fix it when all I had to do was unplug it and plug it back in, lol? I guess all I can do is laugh now, but I am glad it is working again. It's weird how this issue caused a alternator failure error though. I guess this is a good note for anyone else who stumbles across this issue. Thanks andy350 and Gville350 for all your help. Hopefully it stays working for a long time.
