thanks for sharing op, i change mine early this year as well, as my canadian service manual suggest that, oil was very dark, and i believe the new oil is red, my mechanic was able to drain ~3 to 4 quarts.

FYI Guys,
I drive mine hard. I track it a couple of times per year. I bought it with 52k on the Odometer. Previous and only owner was 56 year old female accountant that commuted daily in it, and had it serviced as required.
I drained the tranny before I drove it hard and the fluid was brown.
I drained 2 quarts 2oz. out of mine from both drain plugs, repeated twice.
You make your own decision. I'll drain mine every 50k.! It's 6 quarts @ $60 versus $250-$350 at the dealer for a full flush.

I bought my 2010 Lexus IS 250 AWD brand-new exactly 4 years ago. I am very easy on my daily drivers, not only in driving but also in care of the interior. The interior looks almost brand-new. I have 108,000 miles on my car and I still have 2mm of rear brakes left--the ORIGINAL BRAKE PADS. Like I said....I do not abuse my DDs.
This car is used for my job, which includes a lot of short trips but a lot of highway, too. I work for an insurance firm and we see all of our clients in their homes, and I work all over the entire state of Arizona.
Other than replacing the axles at 70k miles (Lexus covered most of the repair), I haven't had any problems with my IS. I follow Lexus's scheduled maintenance and get all service done at my Lexus Dealer here (it isn't much more expensive than an independent if you know how to talk to SAs).
So, I have 108,000 miles on the car and there is plenty of banter on the internet whether Lexus is out of their mind with this new "lifetime" transmission oil.
I wanted to test this as I am ALL for (necessary) preventative maintenance after owning a Ferrari for 4 years.
I would like to get 200,000 miles out of this car but will basically keep it until it dies.
So, I thought I noticed my transmission shifting strangely and took it in. Lexus looked at and drove it (no charge) and hooked it up to their machine. No abnormalities or P-Codes.
They recommended a transmission flush based on miles and I know that clean fluids make cars last longer. They charged me $250 for the flush and I requested that they save me a fluid sample of the WTF fluid so I could send it to Blackstone Laboratories (I know about them from owning an exotic car) for a full breakdown and analysis.
Well...I got the report back today via email and wanted to share it with you guys--and anyone who will inevitably search for this on this website when these cars start reaching the 100k+ mark and Lexus is recommending this flush even though the Lexus manual states that the fluid is good for the life of the car.

So...I dont really know. Lol.
But I ordered the parts from Sewell Lexus like I do for all my service work. I just paid for the labor at Lexus. Lexus of Chandker treats me VERY well....with continuous discounts for labor, too. Plus, they give me a loaner Lexus for EVERYTHING--even oil changes! I always drop it off....and pick it up the next day or whenever it's ready.
I was just happy I was able to get the fluid analyzed and get some real world data to post on this thread as I KNOW people will be questioning Lexus's "lifetime fluid" once these cars age a little more.

Unless this Lexus dealer had the specific equipment to do a REAL flush I don't see how this was accomplished. You can only get a small portion of the fluid out by normal methods.

@F355 Which axles went on your IS? Are you talking CV driveshafts; which corners? Should I be concerned?
What is this WTF? Does it come from the factory loaded with it? or is it an after purchase maintenance option?

Third party, or independent shops can do the work. You can do it too...just not a flush as that requires a special machine.
Search is your friend on this, and other forums, to find most of what you are looking to do...info and DIY maintenance.
Common sense dictates that if you drive the car hard, more frequent maintenance will be required. I don't think the ATF fluid will make a difference unless you DO NOT use OEM fluid.
