Possible ECU Remapping for IS250/350?
#316
We greatly appreciate you getting a baseline and post dyno pull with the VR module "upgrade". I'm not sure about being in snow mode with the 3IS but based on the gear ratios for the 8-speed transmission, you should try to keep the gear in 6th for a 1:1 ratio. I'm looking forward to hearing about your experience and the dyno results!
Then I'll drive 100 or so miles and perhaps by Friday be able to re-dyno.
Oh, speaking of which should trac control be held down to turn it completely off? I'm pretty sure the dyno guys will know at the shop lol, but would like to have the info just in case.

Thanks a lot for the info. If all goes as planned, I should be able to do my baseline tomorrow. Will post screens and hopefully a vid too as soon as I can.

So what gear would a 2is is250 dyno at? Because still being in 4th gear while in snow mode my car still downshifts. My guess was because the "paddle shifters" are gear limiters and still downshift when you step on it in 4th gear.

Did my baseline today - best run yielded:
279 Peak HP
243 ft-lb Torque
Dynoed under 6th gear, Trac held off for 3+ secs, Sport Manual Mode
Temps being around 69-71F at the time
Mustang Dyno
I'll post a printout of the graph and video after my next session with the VR Tune Flash running for 100 miles or so.
Hopefully weather will be good tomorrow so I can get some mileage going and perform the next dyno test - if not, then I'll just drive for the following week (as recommended ) and then dyno next Thursday/Friday.
Having put about 23 miles, going relatively easy on her in normal mode, the shift does feel smoother and faster - can't even tell it changed half the time. Butt dyno does feel a noticeable difference too in responsiveness and torque - again all may be placebo though lol...
I recommend turning off traction control in case it skewers the results. In regards to putting the car in snow mode, that was necessary for the 2IS in order to help prevent the transmission from downshifting inadvertently. For the 3IS, as long as you're able to hold 6th gear in manual mode, you wouldn't need to put the car in snow mode (AFAIK).

What is usually the norm for stock on a mustang dyno? I've seen 271hp/245tq on a youtube search on a 2is.
My current plans are to do a 100+ miles run and then another one about a week later. But I can probably go longer than a week to see if things do hold up. The +/- 100 miles run is currently only optional. Ultimately the real test will be the > 1 week test run with more than 500 miles ideally.
Ill post stock graphs of the 3 runs tomorrow at the least

Results are in! Getting the graph printout scanned in now - will update post soon!
Positive results so far
Edit:
Dyno Settings:
Dynoed under 6th gear, Trac held off for 3+ secs, Sport Manual Mode
Temps: 69-71F (Stock Dyno)
Temps: 80-82F, Higher Humidity from Scattered Showers that day (VR Tuned Dyno)
VR Tuned Run Performed after 123 miles (10,577 to 10,700) with mixture of (Auto) Normal Mode, Sport/+, and (Manual) Normal Mode, Sport/+
Mustang Dyno
3 Stock Runs
*Note: First Run (#3) was probably due to the engine not being up to temp yet.
Best Stock Run Isolated
After VR Tuned - Best Before and After
3 VR Tuned Runs
My apologies for the bad color on the graphs, the printer they used wasn't great - edited to best of my abilities :/
