OEM Windshield is only with dealer ?
My 2010 IS250 windshield is crack and i send my car to dealer this morning. Its crazy the OEM windshield is around $1200+ and dealer also suggest me go with their recommended after-market vendor for the windshield replacement. - hillcrest.
I also go with another windshield repair/replace shop and their quote is just around $200, I asked for OEM glass but they said only dealer can go with the OEM glass.
Is it true I only can reach OEM glass with lexus dealer ?

Find a different shop that can get OEM glass. Your insurance may not want to cover the entire cost though. When we had to get ours replaced we got OEM from a non-dealer - whether or not they procured it through a dealer is something I don't know. One of the local Lexus dealers actually referred us to the shop. Total cost including installation was similar to the price you got from the dealer.

I just replaced the windshield on my F. My insurance company was not going to do OEM because of the age of my car, a 2008. But after a day of negotiating and with the help of my agent, I got the OEM stuff, but with a twist. I have built a relationship with the parts manager at my dealer, I actually started the relationship before he became the parts manager. I have found over my long life time, that building these kinds of relationships with businesses and folks who you deal with makes life a lot easier. But, who you choose to build that relationship with is very important.
Anyway, I could get the windshield at a discounted price, cheaper than State Farm could. So they agreed to pay me the out of pocket costs for the windshield, if I bought it directly, and they would pay the installer directly for the installation. The only issue was, since the installer was not doing the install, they would not take responsibility for moving the glass. So, I had to have it installed in the dealer's parking lot. Not really a big deal. So, persistence here and an understanding agent along with knowing the parts manager all paid off in getting me the OEM windshield I wanted.
Now, as regards to Pilkington, I noticed some of the OEM windshields on the dealer's lot were marked Lexus, Pilkington and I asked the installer about this. He told me that Pilkington has two plants, one for OEM glass and one for aftermarket. He told me that they are not the same, but they are good quality for aftermarket stuff. The best glass is OEM. He seemed to know what he was talking about, but, who knows.
My glass is not Pilkington but was marked exactly like the glass they removed.

Sewell has them discounted for us making it easy to get approval from your insurance on. Comp claims never impact your insurance rate.
Having a good relationship with your Lexus dealership family helps a lot... as an insurance company we don't care how you get the glass it just needs to be within reason as far as cost vs. Alternative options on windshields. If you can get an oem for $800 and aftermarket is $700 or so... shouldn't be an issue. We'll if I was your agent it wouldn't be lol.
If worked on a few of these claims with my clients so I know there is wiggle room. It just comes to cost for parts and labor... Dealer can cut a break on labor cost you can get the oem windshield discounted and shipped to the dealership... everyone is happy.
Side note - when your claim is done move your comp deductible to $50 or $100... it's hardly anything more a month and makes this decision easier. Vandalism, theft, windshield replacement. $50 comp $500 collision all your cars worth more than $3500 blue book. I had full coverage on the 92 sc400 with almost 200k miles.

hmm... thank you every one!!!
Its very annoying I talked to my insurance agent and she suggest me not raising the claim.
She said my car is 2010 so definitely I can not be approved to go with OEM, only after market can be an option but my deductible is $500. She said she pretty sure of what she was saying because this happened last week to an Audi owner.
Damm! i will be waiting for some quote from other window shops next week to see how much the OEM is. Seems I have no luck to get some friends in dealer to send me a discounted glass.
