Filters for cold air intake
I'm working on the120K maintenance list for my 2008 IS350 and yesterday changed the cabin and engine air filters. When I removed the engine cover, I discovered that filter should be washable since this car has a cold air intake.
The old filter isn't blue like the ones I had seen online, so I started wondering if this was a disposable filter instead. The car was previously serviced only at the dealer, so it would be odd for them to throw away a washable filter they installed.
Looking at the old filter yielded several part numbers: PP-TD20, Toyota 17801-31110, and Denso NN124.
The new filter was a Fram ExtraGuard CA10347. Here are both sides of the old and new filters.
What do you think? Is this a washable filter, or should I throw this away? Should I look for the washable filter that goes with this cold air intake?
thanks,
Bryan

Seems to me, you have a normal air filter. The fsport filter part number is ptr0353082. The stock part number is the one you posted. Your car might have had the fsport intake before. Do you still have the fsport intake on your car?

Would the car be better off with the fsport filter?

It would be better. It'll breath a little better, no oil, and it is reusable.
Since you already have a new filter, use it bc it is better then your old and dirty filter.. I wouldn't worry about it to much and you could always upgrade later. You won't miss out on any noticeable power by switching to a performance filter.
