Default Blurry backup cam image - clean lens

Bought a 2006 IS350 two weeks ago and the image from the backup camera is exceptionally blurry. I have cleaned the lens and there is also no water or moisture underneath from what I can tell.

I was browsing through the forums and wasn't able to find anything to directly help with my issue - I found one post with a guide on how to fix the focus, but unfortunately those settings are not in my menu selection and there is no help in the Nav manual.

I was wondering if anyone else has come across this issue or knows if the updated Nav software may be able to help? (the previous owner never updated the software so it's the original from 2005).

That is pretty blurry. Im sorry I cannot help. Maybe the inner lens is dirty? Probably best to remove it and inspect it.

I don't know what is wrong with your backup camera, but as someone who bought an IS350 back in 2005 not long after the car was released, I can tell you that the backup camera image was sharp as a tack back then, and hasn't changed as I've updated the nav disc over the years.

Thanks, good to know that I'm not just being picky. Still have yet to figure out the issue...fortunately I'm not used to using a backup camera so I've just opted to ignoring the feature until I figure out how to fix it.

Is that thing in the middle just a weird smudge?

If this was a psychologists office and that was a ink blot...
I'd say it looks like a profile shot of a skeleton with blue oakleys, a pirate hat, and a bandana.

Somehow seems that perhaps water got into the camera lens perhaps? Maybe take a heat gun to it?

Hahaha. The image is supposed to show you my collection of tires in my parking stall, my tail light's reflection is just a bonus.

Does anyone know how to take the unit apart to check out if there is anything funky going on in there? From just looking everything looks clean. I'm even wondering if I should take the whole unit apart and see if there is anything wrong with the wiring, etc.

I've never had this problem in my 2006 with any map dvd, I doubt its a software issue.
If your handy, I'd look into a used or new replacement part.

It looks like the inner lense could have moisture that you cannot see directly. the only thing I would recommend is to replace the camera
