Which one? I believe there is one per cam. The shop could have broken a clip, pulled the harness out, or the thing could just be going out on you now. Look at all four and see if all of the harnesses are plugged in.

No one touched them. Lexus did diagnostic position 2 on drivers side right on top. There's 2 sensors on that side one for exhaust one for intake. They said do the bottom one first which is exhaust so I will do that. But first I will check all the plugs and maybe spray some electronics cleaner on the plugs clean em out see if code comes back. If it's the sensor is this an easy DIY?

Sorry lol lets see if this P0390 code comes back Lexus tech said the solenoid on those sensors goes and comes back in cycles so right now code is gone when it's completely gone code won't clear. So if it does come back I will swap it out.

Keep us updated. My Acura used to throw that code. So the dealership changed the VVT cam shaft sensor, and the code went away. It only randomly pops up during really cold winter days. Some mechanics told me that the timing chain was slipping (tensioner was lose).

Anyways, good luck. Cant believe you've had so many problems with your IS. I was told by a certified lexus master tech specifically to NOT purchase the 2gen IS(250/350 a bit better he said). He said only the 1st gen are built to last.

I'm at 62k miles. The plan is to sell her before she hits 100k.
