Default Shim Kit

Anyone bought the shim kit when they changed the brakes and rotors? My brakes are really loud when I first start. It needs like a couple hard brakes before the squeaking stops. If I'm in traffic it will squeak forever. Does the shim kit help?

P.S I never bedded my brakes after getting my rotors and brakes done. It been 4,2k km since. Should i still do it. Is it just braking 100km - 0 10 times.

No need to bleed caliper to change brake pads and rotors. Only time you bleed is for caliper change. On that note did you grease the shim real good where the caliper piston come in contact with them? Greasing them help with squeaking.

I think he is talking about the break in procedure for new pads and rotors.

But yes, I had the same issue, bought the shim kit and they are absolutely 100% quiet now.

Do you guys find it ridiculous that the shim kit is as expensive as the pads itself??

I think I paid about $30? I guess for what it is, it's a bit pricey, but anytime I buy anything at the dealer, I assume it will cost a fortune.

@getafewliv, your shim kits is for IS350 which is cheaper than IS250 lol. There are also 2 versions: Canada and USA. Why the heck do they make the brakes different for Canada and USA??

For IS250, USA version
For the front shim kits:
In Store: $62.50
Online: $54.58
Sewell Price: $38.13
Canada version:
In Store: $67.38
Online: $58.83
Sewell Price:$41.10

For the rear shim kits
In Store: $47.02
Online: $41.08
Sewell Price: $28.68

My front driver side started squeaking randomly recently. I have shims in them but maybe the grease is gone or dirty so I'm gonna try cleaning them real good and regreasing. Brake hardware like the hold back springs also fatigue and could cause squeaking.

Haha I also remember the ISF steering ECU was cheaper from the local dealer than Sewell. Weird... since usually everything is way more expensive here.
