Clutch Failure
I need recommendations on long lasting replacement parts.
My IS250 clutch failed at 20,000 miles.
I can not afford to replace the clutch every 20,000 miles, and do not think it would be write to pass the car on with the problem to an unsuspecting buyer.
The most probable root causes are the following;
1) Clutch disk linings that are too soft.
2) Pressure plate springs that are too soft.
3) A pressure plate with an inertia so large the clutch must stay in too long waiting for rev matching of the engine and transmission.
I ruled out not knowing how to drive a clutch, as I have continuously driven clutch cars from 17 to 60 years old, and have always gotten at least 90,000 miles on the clutches until this failure.
I do not need high performance parts as this car is used in stop and go rush hour traffic. I just need parts that can reasonably be expected to last 90,000 miles.
Reading this forum, this failure seems common. I was hoping others with the same clutch failure, found promising replacement parts, and now have 70,000 miles on their replacement parts, and can make experience based recommendations.
