Default Installed Techstream and getting error message "Unable to Connect to VIM"

Also when I run the MVCI driver install program it fails. I have Windows 8.1. I read an old article where someone manually installed the driver but it doesn't seem to work on my computer. He was using XP I think. Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure the MVCI driver only works on Win 7 or lower, without the driver Techstream wont connect

Thanks. I re-read it and it was a work around for windows 8 but I can't get it to work. Below is some of the workaround instructions. Maybe I'll just try to borrow a windows 7 computer. Or install windows xp on an old laptop that I have access to.

This is the step which most people stumble upon as “MVCI Driver for TOYOTA.msi” installer indeed does not work on Windows x64. The workaround is to install it manually, as follows:

Open Command Prompt in Administrator Mode. Navigate to the c:\temp folder and run the following command line:

msiexec /a "C:\temp\MVCI Driver for TOYOTA.msi" /qb TARGETDIR=c:\temp\mvci

This will extract the content of the MSI file to the c:\temp\mvci folder:

You need a 32 bit operating system, either windows xp or windows 7... I am pretty sure that there is no work around for windows 8 since its 64 bit... I bought a used laptop with windows xp for $80 just to run the techstream and it works perfectly... good luck

It is possible with 64 bit. I had it up and running on Windows 7 64 bit. Can't remember what I did for a workaround though. Haven't tried it on Windows 8, but I may soon. Getting tired of the extra wipe after spraying the windshield.
