Default LEDs inside flicker when dimming on and off?

I just replaced my dome lights in front and back of cabin with Blue LEDs. They all sort of flicker a bit when they dim on and off. Is this normal?

Yes. Dimming is mimicked by turning the bulb on and off repeatedly. This works for a halogen bulb as it takes awhile for the bulb to charge up. This is almost instant for led which is why you actually see each on/off sequence.

Standard filament style bulbs vary the light output based on the voltage being applied to them.

LEDs on the other hand require a certain voltage before they turn on and operate properly. Without sufficient voltage they tend to flicker.

In order to create a nice dimming effect your car will increase the voltage up to 12V over a few seconds. This works for the incandescent bulbs but not the LEDs.
