So, I'm bringing this thread back from the dead:
Car now has 180k on the clock, and I thought I'd update this a tad.
Since the last time, I married the girl in the photo on page 2:
No, I'm not that much of a douche-bag to showcase my car at my own wedding. We were unloading flowers and then they setup for the wedding and trapped the car in location. Anyways, that photo is now almost a year old.
Anyways, car still runs great. I paid it off some 30 months early, which is awesome. I replaced the HID bulbs with Phillips 4200k bulbs and kept up with maintenance. No issues save:
A climate control issue I think I've narrowed down to either a dying batters of low R134a. I'm going to do some work tomorrow to get it figured out over the weekend. I'm leaning on low freon, but a dying battery can cause odd issues.
The Black Obsidion II is seriously the abject worst idea Toyota ever had. Seriously, who the fück thought six coats of paint and no clear-coat was a good idea? Yes in the showroom its beautiful but it develops swirl marks like you wouldn't believe. Its really aggravating.
That being said, I work in one of the largest law firms in the world in their banking department. I park in the garage next to partners who make a few million a year and driving 100k + Mercs as their dailies. I'll tell you all -- this 11 year old car in the garage fits in perfectly with cars with a value 15x as much.
Still very happy with the car. I've toyed with the idea of swapping it out for an IS 300h, but from a $$$/€€€ perspective -- it just don't make sense.

this gen of IS is definitely aging well, my 06 IS350 is like close to 11yrs old and it still looks better than most cars on the road...
