Default DAI Autobahn Wheels Tight Fit

Finally the weather is good and I got a chance to change my wheels.

I had one issue though. I bought the set of wheels 2nd hand last winter. One of the centre bores was smaller, but no big deal since I got the right hub ring for it. The issue was I found the 5 holes were not 100% correct even though it's stamped 114.3 x 5. The studs scraped against the outer edges of the bolt holes. The bolt circle was a tad smaller, so it was a tight fit. I had to tightened each nut evenly and basically forced the wheel on. Should I get someone to re-drill the holes slightly bigger?

Any vibration while driving? The lug nut might come loose since is not sitting property.. have u try the same wheel on the other side? Sometimes might be stud not sitting straight.

I just drove it around the block, but have not tried it on the highway yet. No vibrations at low speeds. The wheel is currently sitting tight against the hub all around the perimeter. Unfortunately, I did not try it on the other side.

The holes on the wheel seem to be pretty small. I remember the last few turns off the nuts were pretty easy. If simon12988 is right about one stud wasn't straight? I will loosen the nuts and see if the wheel is loose when close to the hub. If it isn't, I hope I can get the wheel back off.

I jacked up the car and was able to remove the wheel no problem, but the plastic hubcentric ring‎ broke as the outer diameter of it was a tight fit to the wheel. The seller gave me extra rings so I sanded down the outer diameter of a new one to make it fit better. Seems like the bolt circle diameter was 1mm too short when compared to my winter wheels. Putting the wheel back on was easy now, but contrary to what I said before, the last few turns of the nuts were hard as the nuts want to centre the studs to the holes. The studs are touching the outer edges of the holes. I guess the studs now have undue pressure on them.

Are all 4 rims that tight? Or just one?

Just the one which has a smaller center bore of 67. My suspicion is the one with the smaller bore is actually 112 x 5 although the wheel is stamped with 114x5. I guess this is a risk with buying 2nd hand wheels.

1010 tires http://www.1010tires.com/Wheels/DAI+...ed/Matte+Black indicates the 67 bore is associated with the 112x5.

I think my best bet would be to purchase wobble nuts.

Wobble nuts?...to hold a wheel on!?!
IMO......Yes that wheel has to be the wrong size and your best bet would be to suck it up and just buy one new wheel with the correct bolt pattern. This is a safety issue as that wheel WILL crack at the bolt holes. Just hope your not going fast as it would probably break going around a curve when the pressure is on that wheel.

This really is a no brainer.

Yeah, that is definitely not safe. Switch back to stock wheels ASAP.

Unless you want to risk this happening to you

Thanks all!

I put my stock wheel back on and brought the DAI wheel to a wheel shop. They used a bolt pattern gauge and measured to be 112x5. I ended up ordering a new wheel from them.
