Time Lapse Video Exhaust Pipe Removal and Welding Rust Holes
Here's a link to rust repair on the Y pipe. This is a VERY poorly designed exhaust. There are several tabs welded on to the exhaust pipe. The heat shields are bolted to each tab. At every tab, the pipe had rusted through. There were several other small rust holes which appeared to be where the pipe was partially crushed during the manufacturing process. It looked like a machine which held the pipe during bending had put 1 inch long dents in the pipe. Every one of them was rusted through as well.
Sorry I don't have any close up pictures. Over the course of 7+ hours, I removed the pipe, ground down the rust and welded on patches using a MIG.

Holy smokes. That looks like a lot of work.
If you don't mind me asking, what would happen if you left it rusted? Would it affect the car negatively? Luckily I don't have to deal with that. I have stainless steel midpipe and axle-back.
