How do you troubleshoot HID's?
Backstory: I just bought a 2008 is250 AWD from a used car dealer who acquired it from an auction. carfax shows clean but i can tell it has had some fender work done and headlight seal is broke. after inspecting the behind said area it appears unmolested. When i got home i noticed the car did not any bulbs in the headlights at all. i purchased the bulbs from advance and got the only HID's they offered. (yes i checked to see if i have HID) I installed the bulbs and the driver side comes on when i turn on the lights but the passenger does not. The one weird thing i have that i haven't heard anyone say is that i get a buzzing noise almost like a tattoo gun coming from the one that will come on. I noticed that when i put the bulb in that the housing for the ANS? i think its called, or steering headlight moved a little more freely than the other one that does not work.
Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this? where to start???

the buzz is prob the sound of your working ballast... you should check to see if the same sound is on your passenger unit where your bulb is not coming on. It might just be a bad ballast and whoever you bought it from kept the bulbs out so you wouldn't notice one on and one off. You should hear that buzz sound from both units if you have OEM and Aftermarket HID.

Hids are pretty much just a bulb and a ballast. To troubleshoot which is e problem, put your driver side bulb into your passenger side. If it doesn't turn on, put the bulb back in the drivers side. If it works, then it's the ballast that's the issue.
If the drivers side bulb turns on when placed in the passenger side, then it's the bulb that's the issue.

^^^^ bulbs are brand new bro that's why I recommended the ballast. OP - you mentioned that the headlight also ins't sealed properly you should also look into a proper reseal. You can look up "retrofit" for plenty of DIY information on proper sealing techniques. Unless that was in refrence to the plastic case that seals the bulb housing.

Looks like ballast it is. Im looking at some on amazon, couldnt find the part #'s online. could call lexus but its sunday. Are the driver and passenger side the same part#?
