IS 250 Water Pump
I have 2007 IS 250, it has only 28,000miles, my wife drives the car from time to time.
I had recall service(Fuel related) today, they said they found that Water Pump is leaking, need to be replaced and it would cost about $800.
I thought that water pump usually good upto 100,000 miles or more.
It is about 8 years now, but it has only 28,000 miles, well maintained , kept it at garage always. I think it is VERY wrong and Lexus should repair for this case.
What do you think ?

The age of the water pump can cause them to leak and they seem to go out from 50K to 100K. I would have good mechanic price replacement or change it yourself like srt1 said if you can. I would get a OEM or one online, also a lot last over 100K, usually the ones with highway miles. Welcome to CL....

I don't think you will get it covered as its out of warranty. Even though it has low miles it's way past the timeframe. You can have it changed out at an independent shop for much less. I would highly recommend you get an OEM water pump like the OP said. Sucks that it went out but that's just life with mechanical things. We all wish they were perfect 100% of the time.
