Default check engine light?

after I cleaned my filter on my injen short ramp it popped on ...what can be the problem ? had it on for almost a year with no lights at all..


2006 96k

please help..

You can bring to auto part store or Oreilly they can scan the check engine light for free and tell you the code.

its probably nothing...
disconnect battery...wait few minutes...connect battery again
see if it resets it.

^what andy said

the car probably detected a different amount of air intake as per normal and threw a code, check all your connections > reset batt.

Thank for the reply will do it later. But now when I start it up cold start the idle drops and the car shakes but gets back to normal...what can be that problem???

this always happen to me when i clean my intake ( takeda ) or disconnect battery. after a couple days it will reset itself. give it a couple days.

i remember a few years back, after 2 days, i was worried and went to buy a code reader from sears, then right after pulling out from the sears parking lot, it went off. lol.

Lol thanks for the reply ! But you think the filter gets to old for a cold start and the idle drops ?? Haven't changed it after i bought it used just clean here and there

Not sure on other filters, but the one I have is lifetime or so they say, no oil needed. It's a dry filter. Just check to make sure, there is no trapped dirt, etc.

thanks for the reply
went to autozone and they said they don't scan codes anymore..soo took a bullet and bought a filter and unplug my battery and BAM went away =) so happy

I was also losing power when I drove it this morning was freaking out

I disconnect battery, but engine light came back on 2 day later. Orielly Auto Parts will scan for the code for free.
