Hi All, Im completely new to this and could do with all the help I can get. I recently got a IS220 diesel. Fell in love with the car simply thought it was awesome. 3 days later some individual smacked into the back of me resulting to the car being right off. The insurance process is ongoing but I have decided to keep the car as its only a cat D and I know what the damages are. Let me add that I am getting a pretty decent offer from the insurance. Can you 220 experts give some info about what I need to know about this car, whats good, what to watch out for. Any advise or comments worth knowing. Please refrain from bad talking this car as Ive decided to keep it and will be driving it for a while. I know the clutch is to much in the middle and some think that the audio and heating panel is too plasticy an cheap looking but Im happy with these things. I simply want to learn more about the car mechanically as well features etc. Its a IS220d SE Black with cream leathers. I am also looking for some nice alloys for this car. Any advise on where to look and what makes to avoid and general info about getting new rims will be appreciated.
Thanking you in advance.

Hi, I have the same car as you. Its also black with cream leather!
Get a tuning box from Lyndop Toyota UK... it brings the car from 177bhp to 214bhp.
It also makes the car much smoother to drive and take some of the turbo lag away.

Make sure you service every 10,000 kilometers.

Hi, thanks for that. Would this then be considered modification on the car when insurance looks at this.
Also, what type of diesel should be use, standard Diesel fuel or the more high performance diesel? Is there really much of a difference anyway, as in is the difference noticeable?

What year? The head gasket has some pretty material problems with that motor. Lexus extended the warranty up to 8 years and 150,000 kms.

Once your car hits that point -- dump it, as its a money-hole waiting to happen.
