Within the last 2 weeks, my "Oil Maint. Req. Soon" light came on. I checked the oil and it said it was above the 2nd dot by about a centimeter. I bought the car at 69,200 miles. It is now at 71,200 miles. I checked with the dealership and they said the oil (conventional) was changed at 69,157, 6-7 quarts.

Any idea why the "Oil Maint. Req." light is now on?

Your answer is because the person who changed your oil didn't reset the oil indicator light to turn it off. It's a manual operation explained here:
