I'm about to pull the trigger on a new set of tires and I'm debating between stock spec 225/40/18s or wider 235/40/18s up front instead.
I am currently on stock sport suspension with stock 2014 f-sport package rims.
My concern is wanting to get a bigger tire for a more comfortable ride which will fill out the wheel well a little better and eliminate some gap but I don't want too much of the donut look either.
Any pics or feedback from anyone who has done this on stock 18s before would be appreciated.
To me, with stock suspension and stock wheels, the 235/40/18 tires look perfect when compared to the slightly narrower 225s. Slightly more lateral grip with the increase in tire surface area up front.

Thanks that is great input.
I'm leaning towards 235 now, but I'm a little concerned it may rub. From what I've read with stock suspension and rims it will depend on tire brand.
My main goal is comfort so I'm going to get DWS.
If anyone is running 235 Conti DWS up front on 18" stock setup... Would appreciate any feedback on if it rubs.
If you want a narrower 235 tire, I'd recommend a BFG KDW II. I had them on my stock wheels at the stock size, and the fronts looked ever so slightly stretched. Kinda odd, but you're right...the brand does make a difference.
I wonder how these new Federal 595 EVOs I got will work out for the fronts. I love the bulky side shoulder blocks :
^Yep! I noticed the same thing with my PSSs in the rear on stock wheels. They're actually 245/40/18s (got a steal @ $240 for the set) and they looked like the Dunlop 255s I just had on there. LOL!
sorry I don't have pics but I am running 235 DWS up front on stock wheels and it rubs to a point where you can actually hear it inside the cabin. just an fyi, braking distances and turn in feel with the DWS is pitiful. they are quiet, and superb in the rain/snow. gas mileage took a dip however.. I'm switching to new Pirelli p zero when these wear out.

I actually had a gut feel and switched my order to the 225s yesterday instead... Thanks a lot for letting me know for sure.
I debated the Pirelli but decided to go DWS instead since comfort is my number one priority right now.
