Default Has anyone installed larger piping for exhaust?

Quick question for all you aftermarket exhaust members out there. Have any of you changed the diameter of your exhaust piping? I was doing some reading and saw on another thread for a different vehicle (I think an IS300) that the members were talking about increasing the piping size to 2.25" because it would increase air flow and prevent loss in the low end.

Has anyone here tried this or anything similar, or can you pitch in some advice on your own or some one else's experience? I am very curious to see if this would prove any benefit on our cars... also what is the stock diameter of the stock exhaust? Thanks

Do some serious research into exhaust work and proper pipe sizing and you'll find that the larger you go, the more likely you are to loose low-end torque. You need some back-pressure in an N/A vehicle. Yes, you will increase flow on the top-end; but honestly, having the 2IS rev limiter set where it is from the factory makes it "safe" and limits any potential gains in the higher rpms. Wish there was a dyno graph of an IS350 with a rev limiter removed so we can see where these motors REALLY stop making power up top.

Ahhhh.. i see.. Well i guess it was worth asking. I know i didnt buy this car for modding potential anyway lol. Still lovin this car

Still , it would be nice if somehow , some way, a tune would magically appear for the USDM spec cars like in Japan.
