Default Change my Factory HID headlights to a Third Party Headlight Set [2007]

My HID bulbs have gone out and I want to instead of replacing the bulbs, change them to one of the third party headlights on the market (I want that led strip).

However, on the description of numerous headlights, it says it's not compatible with Models with Factory HID headlights, or it says to disable the AFS system. Has anyone with an 07 IS 250 gone through the same problem ? How would you go about disabling the AFS system or do you know of any third party headlights which ARE compatible with Models with Factory HID Headlights?

Thanks again for the help!

You can change the headlights to the 2011-2013 OEM headlights with the right amount of tinkering and modifications (to certain parts behind the headlamp), but it is like you said you will have to lose out on the AFS. I don't have any saved threads that show/explain how to disable the AFS besides remembering from the research I did was that pulling the fuse or taking apart the dash to apply black tape to cover the AFS light would take care of that. Little to no modifications would be needed for an aftermarket headlight.

Losing the AFS was the main reason why I ended up not replacing the headlamps and just sticking to replacing the bulbs.

Hello, if you're like me and don't have 1200-1600 to spend on Oem 2011 headlights, then this would be a cheaper alternative.
I use it as well as forum member whitebeast.

On a side note, I for one think AFS is really useless. Maybe it's just me. I don't really have a use for it so I had no problem disabling it

Exacly the answer I needed , thanks for the help. Same here , do not have that kind of money to spend on OEMs.

So is it still just plug and play? How do I got about disabling AFS?

Completely plug and play, Only reason its non HID is because HID is illegal in certain countries.
Fitment is 95%, nbd. The halogen bulbs it comes with sucks. So just get a nice HID kit. Followed Whitebeast and mounted them under the headlight. It looks just like stock.wires are neatly tucked away and the ballast doesn't take up space.

Theres a fuse box under your steering wheel, refer to owners manual and pull the AFS fuse. ITs a red fuse thats 7.5 amps.

Good lucks! You can pm me if you have more questions.

Here's another alternative from what I can interpret it's a replacement for factory HID so your stock HID ballast and bulbs will work with possibly an AFS bypass

was def looking at that too, however My guess would be that its 800~1200.

Since OEM costs 1800~2200? from dealer at least.

Either way I am extremely happy with the eBay reps. The cut off line is much more clear than stock lens too.
