Default Vent/fan problem?

Hello everyone! I have an 08 IS 350 that just today started making a sound that seems to be related to the fan. The sound comes from right under the glove compartment. I've noticed that when I switch from outside vent to inside air circulation the sound goes away. Any information as to what this might be is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I have a sound as well that comes from the fan on really cold days. I turn the system off then back on again and it goes away. Its a nuisance, but nothing I am worried about, yet! Be interested to see the outcome of this...

Do some simple troubleshooting. The squirrel cage blower is right under the cabin filter, and easy to see with the cabin filter removed. Just be sure that the system is in recirculate mode before you remove the cabin filter, or you'll really break it.

Once you've got the filter out, you'll see the blower wheel. I'd look for debris (e.g. a wayward leaf, piece of cardboard, etc.). I'd remove the filter and watch it in operation; hopefully it will be obvious what is wrong.

THanks for the info gentleman. I've realized that the noise comes on when the vent setting is set to outside. The noise goes away immediately when it is switched to recirculate mode. Thoughts?

I suspect your recirc door is broken like so many others.
