Hello everybody,

I have a 2012 IS250 with 25K miles (still under warranty, I am the 2nd owner of the vehicle) and just noticed yesterday that the edges of all 4 of my wheels are becoming black. I'm not sure if the original paint on them faded or what but this is very concerning. I know for a fact it's not curb rash as (a) I never hit and curbs and (b) the wheels are smooth and undamaged in the trouble areas.

I used to live in a west coast city where the roads were nice and it never snowed, but just recently moved to a midwest city with terrible roads and snowy weather (and thus the car is exposed to a lot of salt, dirt, etc.) Regardless this shouldn't happen.

I'll upload pics when I can, but for the time being here's a photo of the internet that resembles my car and has the same wheels.


As I said, the outside edges of the wheels are becoming black. I always felt these were some cheap looking OEM wheels, but this is definitely something that shouldn't happen.

I would go to the dealer and report the issue now. Start the documentstion.
