Trading '08 250 for '12 350
Can anyone explain the new L-cert CPO warranty? I currently have an '08 AWD 250 under the old CPO warranty of 3 years/100k miles. I'm considering trading it for a '12 AWD 350 but I don't quite get the new l-cert warranty? The way I read it is you get a 2 year/unlimited mile warranty...is that correct? It would seem to be a step back as I would rather have the 3rd year as with the old CPO warranty.
Also, does anyone think Lexus would work with me on getting me out of the '08 that I still owe about 10,500 on? I would really love to get into a newer 350 - more power and the '08 has the nagging carbon buildup headache.
Thanks all.

not sure about the CPO aspect since I bought mine from a 3rd party dealership, was still covered under the 4/50K.
when i traded my '06 I still owed money but the dealership was very flexible. They will take the difference between the offer they give you for the trade in and what is owed and add that on top. Say they offer you $8500 and you owe $10500, they will give you the extra $2,000 towards paying your old vehicle off and tack that onto the new sales price.

Yeah what he said^^^
Also might I make a suggestion? You should look into getting an older ISF over a 350. I love my 350 and it's definitely faster than a 250 but in all honesty , I really wish I had an ISF but they were just way to expensive back when I was getting my car. Now a days an 08' can be had for about $24k with some low-ish mileage. That way you won't kill ever kick yourself in the future when you see an ISF rolling by
Also V8 sooooo yeah...

definitely consider the ISF, if the price is right and you're not worried about having RWD. I have driven a AWD 250 on a few occasions (loaners and test drives), the AWD 350 is a pretty good jump up as far as speed and power, obviously the F is in a whole different class. I have no regrets buying the 350 though, during snow storms my car outperforms my AWD grand cherokee by a wide margin.

Prices depends where you live (demand and supply law...).
I'd say get your old IS evaluated (before making an offer on the other one), they will tell you how much they are willing to offer. Then, deal the other one. If you do the opposite, they might end up playing with numbers everywhere to make you believe you're making a good deal (salesman are good at that, trust me).
Keep in mind : The car is used, they have a bigger margin of profit. They can lower the price much more than they can on a new one.
The warranty I bought with my CPO was the ECP (Extra Care Protection) that extends the factory warranty (4y/50k full - 6y/70k powertrain) for 4 more years (so 8 years/100k full coverage from initial 1st owner purchase date). It cost 2000$ I believe, which was really reasonable considering the cost of parts/labor for those cars.
I don't think we have the same warranties from Canada to USA though.
