Buying used tires?

For what its worth. I dont think used tires are all that bad. Yeah there are some risks to having them but hey its still better than riding around on some really worn bald tires IMO.
However I dont buy used anyway just for the simple fact that with new tires I get a warranty including Pot hole coverage usually. Also they last longer and have better tread and blah blah blah...
For what its worth, I only buy used when I wanna go swing my car around with some friends at our "secret" spots. Or just wanna burn out or whatever with our cars for a while. Same goes for my brothers G8 lol.
Still though if you wanna buy used go ahead. Nothing wrong with it since you can save a good amount of cash by doing so. Just make sure it really is a decent used tire not some super old, cracked, etc.. tire. A proper inspection goes a long way.

When I bought my used winter tires, the lady had them for 1 season and was selling only because she brought her car back (lease) and they didn't fit on her new one. Jack pot for me. I paid 200$ for 4 almost new tires instead of 1000$.
If I had listened to you guys, I would have spent an extra 800$ in that transaction lol

I am just saying dont go out to junk yard and buy first cheap used tires. its not worth saving $150 bucks. if you can find some premium good condition tires then yeah its a good deal
I need 4 summer tires now, considering they last 15-20k, i doubt its a good idea to even spend time looking at used sets. new ones are about 600-650 installed and balanced with warranty

Im actually planning on buying some used tires to reolace my worn out Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Positions on the rear. Reason being that im getting wheels hopefully soon and dont wanna spend a ton of money on tires that I will only need for about 2-3 months.

I have had pretty good results. My last ones in ways being the worst. I got some Michelin AS3 for 40 each, but there is a vibration at speeds above 90. Before my tires give up the ghost, I call my tire guy and ask what he has. The used Michelins that he has sold me have been good. I had a 330i and still had the front tires he sold me for 40 each. I think they were the mxm4s or something like that. Found that they had better grip then I thought they would.

As with any used part, do your due diligence and know what you're buying. As others have said, there are plenty of good used tires out there but also lots of crappy ones. Be really picky about it and you should be able to find a used tire that will serve your purposes well.
