Default Check Engine / VSC help

The other day I was cruising and my CEL/VSC lights lit up. i parked home and tightened the gas cap hoping that was the issue and let it sit overnight. Next day lights still on. Day after (yesterday) I was going to read te codes and all lights disappeared.. strange..
This is the second time this happened after installing K&N intake as well as Invidia midpipe.doubt these mods have anything to do with it though

do CEL get "stored" after a day or so? or if there was a problem would the dash stay lit up? can i still pull codes if the lights are not there anymore but are in fact "stored" somewhere? what do you guys think

Thanks

Default

and now my automatic transmission stalled for the third time of my ownership for the past year or so.
any ideas as to why this is happening, is it a carbon build up issue?
