IS350 A/C diagnosis
Hi all
Problem:
Just purchased a used is350. Now temperature is higher and I tried to turn A/C on, no cold air at all
Symptoms:
1. No cold air standing or moving
2. A/C light does not flash, either on or off
3. Fan not turning when A/C on
4. When I look in the inspection window near the high pressure port, I see nothing moving
5. Checked all A/C related fuse and all intact
Questions:
1. Do I simply have a leak or no 134a charge in the system?
2. How do I inspect if compressor is running or not? (great if there is a picture with pointer showing what to look)
3. In our IS, does fan and compressor turn on if charge is low?
Thanks

so the bad news is.... compressor is kaput
it is leaking at the shaft seal
The tech says when he tries to charge the system it just start hissing massively between the compressor and the clutch.
now the questions is
is it difficult to just replace the shaft seal?
if that cannot be done, how hard is it to DIY replace the compressor and get it charged by a shop?
Is there other parts I should replace at the same time?
Thanks

Might not hurt to purchase a 2 day subscription from TIS, I believe they have all of the all of the repair specs. Someone might be able to chime in.

So everything fixed now and A/C is blowing cold
Compressor imploded and seized causing the lost of A/C
Replaced with new compressor and condenser then take it to a shop to vacuum and charge.
