You have to make your case at the dealer level. They are more customer oriented than corp employees. A corp employee might not deal with the public where a service writer deals with people all day long. Also my experience with corp people is they they focus more on the making and saving of money the bottom line, rather than the customer experience. To them your situation is an expense. That's the way I did it and I am on my second loaner. Make an acquaintance with a service writer and make a case for why you need a loaner now.
Next time you talk to some one like that ask them if the car is so safe then why are they involved in one of the largest recalls in consumer history. You can also ask them about the deaths and injury that have occurred because of this. While your at it tell them you will quote whatever he says to his manger.
Well said ill get with them and see what they say. Thanks
So I went to my dealer to ask about a loaner and my service advisor told me to call Lexus corporate with the number on the recall letter. Just called and their sending this to a case manager and will be back to me in 2 days. Anyone have this happen? I thought I could get a loaner right away.
I have a 2016 Cadillac XTS4 from Budget for less than $45 per day when using USAA discounts and paying in advance for 31 days at a time rental. Get my reimbursement check directly from Lexus, quickly after submitting receipt.
So I got the call today. They said my car is in zone 2, NC. Which mines my airbag will deterrioate within 10-15 years so I'm still good. I was like yeah so mines an 07. Then she said well call up the dealer, ask for this person. He'll arrange a rental. Now it might not be a Lexus. I said I don't care. Personally I'd drive a Kia if it's free. I mean come on. Who can complain about a free car? Even $14,000 Kias have push button start now. But I also got corporate and AAA discounts so hopefully they can factor that in at the rental place and put me in a Lincoln etc. My cars gonna sit in the garage for 13 months for all I care.
Got my rental today. 2016 mustang convertible. Service adviser said they had 100+ rentals out. They're trying to secure replacement airbags for people with rentals out first. End of 1st quarter at the earliest. Meaning April. I asked to upgrade at Enterprise using my corporate or AAA membership. They said Lexus includes any upgrades, just pick a car on the lot. This is what I got
Does this mean that they have the replacement parts already? I asked the dealer about the airbag back when I had my fuel pressure sensor recall done, back in October, and they told me, "just don't have anyone sit on the passenger side". I was kind of shocked. Hoping I can get this rectified asap, I suppose I need to contact the dealer again.

My service advisor said no parts. They're working to replace people who have rentals out first. ETA end of first quarter meaning April. But could be longer. Go secure a free rental. Tell them you often have a passenger and feel it unsafe.

Actually I was told the exact opposite. People with rentals, will be last. Obviously, from a legal and safety perspective, they need to fix the ones that are actually being driven first.
