Just called in to my local lexus here in Seattle, they have parts available for my Airbag recall as well as another for the fuel pressure sensor. They scheduled me in for next week with a loaner as well.

My car's in the shop as I type. Put me in a NX200T loaner for the day. Not a F-Sport but pretty nice I gotta say.

It looks to me like they do remove it. There is tons of new chipped edges and scratch marks all around the edges of my dash, especially around the radio/nav unit after having this done. My dash is in terrible shape, so I'm sure getting it in and out without it just disintegrating was quite the task.

They chipped up my dash edges above the center air vents when they took out my Nav to replace. I complained and they did a crappy job fixing the chips, basically melted it back to cover the chipped holes. I was like screw it because I'll be getting a new dash eventually. But this is unacceptable!

This time I took pics of my dash before I took my car in. Haven't picked up my car yet but I'll raise hell if I see new chips. Have you called them to complain?

No, I didn't even mention it. It looks like hell already so there's no point in complaining. It didn't make it any uglier than it already is, and in all likelihood, no amount of complaining is going to get it replaced quicker.

It's in such poor shape I knew going into the airbag recall there was likely no way they could get that in and out without damaging it in some way. It's either keep an ugly dash and dangerous airbag, or just an ugly dash.

I guess my guys did a masterful job. I looked very closely at the edges and trim, no signs of any damage. But I too wish they could have replaced the dash at the same time.

Took my car into the dealership today for the airbag recall. I called the service desk and they set up an appointment. Yes, they do remove the dash to replace the airbag.

Just got my car back. Upon close inspection, I don't see any chips or scratches. I'm 99% sure they didn't remove the dash as I'm sure if they did, they'd most likely mess it up. Some of these techs aren't too bright. I remember they refused to replace my nav under warranty cuz they thought I messed it up just by installing led overhead bulbs.

Ok call me impatient but it seems like everyone else is getting their air bag recall done but mine. Curious to know, if anyone in the Bay Area (NorCal) has had theirs done. If so, which dealership did you go to?

Got a call that my airbag is now ready...my dealer did my SC pass airbag without removing the dash. Hopefully they have the same technique on the IS.

I went to Pleasanton and they got me in quick! My brother also called one day and dropped it off the next to get swapped.

On another note, I don't have a rattling dash since getting my car back

I did not get a call or other notice from Lexus that it was time to replace my airbag, but when I called to schedule some other service they said "Oh, your car is part of the airbag recall" and offered to include the repair in my service appointment. I don't know when I would have gotten notice from them had I waited, but I now have my replacement airbag installed. Might be worth calling your local dealer!

For reference, my car is a 2011 IS50 AWD, and I live in Austin, Texas.
