How about to request them to pick up your car and drop off a rental? Anybody try this?

Park your car at home. I'm stopping by to get my rental tomorrow

Parking my car for the next 9 months, my biggest concerns are the battery going dead and low spots developing on the tires.

Start the car every week or so, drive it around the block a few times to get it warmed up. Put the battery on a trickle charger, put the car on blocks so the tires don't get flat spots on them.

I think I'd rather be driving my own Lexus around, rather than some other brand that may or may not have fixed airbags and other outstanding recalls. Better the devil you know.

Nice! Super posh. All I got was a Corolla (always has to be the one I hate). Mine told me $35/day (so yea $1000/month). I still think they should have offered all of us the option for $4k cash towards a new Lexus.

If you don't mind me asking, how'd you go about getting that rental from them (year/mileage of your IS?). I'm trying to decide if I want to ask my dealer about it, I'm sure they're going to give me the run around on it though due to age and mileage.

I got mine after calling and simply asking. I was afraid of the run-around too, but they just wanted me to bring in my car (to record the VIN and mileage) and somebody to drive my car back when I get my rental. YMMV as I called another dealer and they just wanted somebody to drop me off, so I could pick up the car (after signing a form). The form essentially says that Lexus is doing this as a courtesy and that I promise to turn on my car every once in a while to make sure the battery is fine. I will also have to bring my car to the dealership every 30 days to get my mileage recorded. I don't think they mind you driving your Lexus around the block every so often to avoid battery, tire, and engine issues. Also, my car is a 2009 IS350, but it has 140k miles, i.e., non-issue.

Debating if I should request for a rental car. What if I decide that I want to drive my own car and return the rental car midway of the waiting process. I wonder if they would allow that

you can cancel contract and return rental anytime. Miss the Lex I hate driving the rental. No power, not comfortable, noisy.
