Default Oil Filter Drain Valve

During my last OC, I installed a FUMOTO drain bolt F-103N which will eliminate all mess from the drain bolt when changing the juice:

I use K&N 7023 filters and they come with a plastic "nipple" thing that looks like it is meant to push or screw onto the filter housing to make the draining of the filter body mess free as well:

My question is, what is the actual application of this plastic nipple drain rig? How does it attach, how does it drain? Are ALL 2008 IS350 canisters setup to use this plastic drain piece? I'd really like to know how to work with that thing to work towards a zero (or as close to zero) mess oil change as possible.

The plastic drain is only used on AWD models. RWD models have the filter mounted differently and there is no drain plug to use it with.

Hmmmmmm... But I have seen replacement caps for the IS350 housing that have a bolt that is removable. This filter canister/housing on the RWD does orient from LEFT to RIGHT as oppsed to UP and DOWN, but I thought if I purchased a new OEM canister cap that had the removable bolt on the end that I could use the drain plug adapter doohicky?

Are you saying it is 100% impossible on an RWD IS350 to use any sort of drain bolt mechanism?

Yes, that is what I'm saying. There is no point to putting the AWD cap on the RWD, you won't be able to drain it that way unfortunately.

Well dag nabbit that is just a super bummer. I would have thought since they use the same housing that RWD and AWD could both be drained using the plastic nipple push on gizmo... what a drag.

You could maybe try to use it, but it won't really drain well and will leave much of the oil still in the filter housing area.

As the cap sits currently, you can loosen it slowly and let most of the oil leak out. Then loosen further and remove the cap in an upward direction (towards the sky) and most, if not all, of the oil should be drained. I find it to be a pretty clean drain as it is.

My rx450h uses this "doohicky" you speak of and I find it actually makes for more clean up. Then again, the housing is pointed downwards so it's a rough start to begin with.
