Default Question to all IS 250 owners

A friend of mine is looking to buy a 2006 IS 250 with 56K miles. I've never had an IS before, so I'm not too sure what she should look out for ?

How's the engine, tranny and suspension holding up ? Were there any major recalls? Any annoying issues ?

Thanks in advance!

Carbon build up. Dont buy it. I bought an 09, but only because i got a hell of a deal its still under the 9 year unlimited warranty from Lexus.

Its a complete rebuild to fix the issue and 06 and 07 are pretty much out of that coverage period

Just like the 2006 GS300, which also suffers from the carbon build up.

Thanks for letting me know!

I believed they changed the seals that helped with those problems with anything 09+.
Keep in mind that this doesnt neccessarily mean the problem has been rectified, but it has a better chance vs the 2006

I wouldnt get the 6mt either. Lots of threads cover reasons why

The IS350 doesn't have the problem, and is much more fun-to-drive. I'd encourage him to find one of those instead.

This. People who usually buy pre-owned should get a 350.

And also run it through its gears every once in awhile, burn off some of the excess carbon.

No, the IS350 has the D4-S system that combines both port and direct injection.
