Default Planning to buy an IS250 but should I worry?

I was planning to buy an IS250 this weekend but the carbon build up stories are scaring me. I checked his Vin and it states

" OTHERS GUEST STATES THAT THE WARNING INDICATORS ARE ON, CHECK ENGIN E LIGHT AND VSC LIGHT - CODE P0031 BANK 1 SENSOR 1 AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR HEATER CIRCUIT. - DIAGNOSED AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR CODE. TESTED RESISTANCE OF AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR HEATER CIRCUIT. OPEN CIRCUIT. REPLACED BANK 1 SENSOR 1 AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR, CLEARED CODE AND MONITERED AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR SIGNAL WITH TECHSTREAM."

Is this a symptom of the notorious 250 problems? Thanks in advance

It's a 2008 with 140k on it.

That is unrelated to the carbon build up concerns with some IS250 models. That was just a bad A/F sensor and it was replaced.

Carbon build or timing chain. Id rather deal with timing chain. There is no remedy for carbon build up. And you get 100 Extra horses for relatively the same price. No turbo or SC will accomplish anything similar.

Thanks for the opinion they all sound scary but I think I'll keep looking for a 350 instead.

I bought a 2009 IS250 in August, and had it in for other things this April. I asked them to run the carbon buildup test and it came back positive so they did the fix for free. If it does have the problem on a used IS250, you're not necessarily stuck with it. I LOVE MY CAR!

I think overall the 350 has Less issues compared to the 250. Just what I see being posted on the site. Its usually the 250 thats posting problems

Get an IS350 or IS-F. I used to have IS250 but trade it in after a year.

Yes, I agree. Although I love my IS250 and is now "fixed" of things I was worried about, if you can afford the extra amount (which may be trivial now if looking far enough back), definitely go for the IS350 if you can. Happy Hunting!

Definitely get a 350. I've got an 07 250 and I'm starting to see them everywhere, but I've yet to see a 350 in the wild. So far with 110K Kms, still no major problems and I try to keep the carbon issue at bay with some WOT whenever the car is warmed up.
